Visit Murooah StudioAbout us
Murooah is the company behind Miqa and Mirtal, two apps for Muslims, and behind the research into Quran audio and text that those apps rest on. We also build the software tools that this work needs.
Murooah, مُرُوءَة in Arabic, is a word for chivalry, the honourable conduct of a person who keeps their word, deals fairly and carries themselves well whether or not anyone is watching. We chose it as a standard we try to live up to in our work, and never as a claim about ourselves.
Four habits shape everything we make, and you can hold us to each of them.
Our apps do their work on your phone wherever they can, so that what you do in them stays with you unless you choose to share it.
Our phone apps carry no advertising or analytics code, and this website has no cookies, no analytics and no ads.
The Quran text in our apps is copied exactly from a published source that the app names on its About screen, and no machine types or makes any of it.
Where something we make falls short or is still unproven, the page about it says so, and when we learn we were wrong we correct the page and note the change.
